It's officially totaled according to the insurance adjuster. I went and retrieved all my personal stuff out of the car this afternoon. Luckily, I found my eyeglasses - they sustained some minor injuries as well, but are still operational.
I feel incredibly lucky - even more-so after seeing the car. Even more more-so after seeing the mini-van wreck witting next to my wreck (background of top image). The worker at the impound yard saw fit to tell me that it had been carrying 8 people and there had been 6 fatalities.
For now, I'm driving some random Ford POS and we're starting to look for a replacement car. The local Sturn dealership website is listing almost the exact same car right now - same year, same model, same color, about 50,000 fewer miles than mine had, about $900 less than what we paid for mine 3.5 years ago. Might have to go take that one for a test drive...
Posted at 04:50 PMIt's a good thing they draped plastic on your car; otherwise, it might get damaged by the rain.
Since it's considered totalled, you should take a trip back to the junkyard and at *least* take out the windows with a crowbar. You could even charge admission and make a tidy profit. Hell, I'd pay.
